Ceramic materials for a floor involve consumers, first of all, with its practicality. They are resistant to wear, impact of chemicals, light, cold and heat. Floor ceramic tiles are easily cleared and give unlimited possibilities for imagination by an interior beautification.

Before buying a tile you must check that the size of all bought tiles (it is usually marked on packing) is identical (also in case it is supposed to face one room with several sorts of tiles for a floor and walls).

It is necessary to remember that all ceramic materials (including tiles) have some insignificant deflections from their fixed colour because of burning in furnaces at a high temperature. Though not only templet but also shade number is underlined usually on boxes with tiles, so it is necessary to check up once again a shade of tiles by selection of several tiles from different boxes and their laying one near another before the beginning of works.

If there is high moisture content in a room where it is planned to glue a floor tile (for example, in a bathroom) it's necessary to pay attention to water absorption percent. It shouldn't exceed 6 %. If the room is not heated you must to find out whether the tile is cold-resistant. It isn't recommended to apply wall tiles for a floor construction because they are quickly erased and you will spend money for nothing.

Tile floor classification

It's important to pay attention to the wear class of a tile by selecting with what tiles to cover a floor:

I - for floors on which is gone only in footwear with soft soles or barefoot (bedroom, bathroom).

II - for floors on which a small amount of a dirt that leaves scratch sometimes gets and on which is gone in footwear with a soft and normal sole.

III - For floors on which the dirt that leaves scratch often gets and on which is gone in normal footwear (kitchens, corridors, balconies, terraces).

Tile laying

Experts in laying of a floor tile notice that it is necessary to buy 8 - 10 % of tiles more than it is necessary for facing of the selected area. Tiles are pasted with the application of the most intricate patterns ("chess", "herring-pattern" etc.), in a different direction, in a combination of the different sizes etc. It's necessary to remember that vertically pasted on the long side tiles optically increase a room in height, and horizontally - in width. Regardless of the selected way, tiles should be pasted with intervals. To make the intervals between tiles identical the crosspieces with various widths (1-8 mm) are applied. The purpose of crosspieces is not only to make identical distance between tiles but also to compensate a difference in the sizes of tiles of the same templet.
